Climate change, rapid population growth, and underinvestment in infrastructure are placing increasing pressure on already scarce water resources.
Kenya is facing a severe water crisis that affects millions of people, particularly in rural areas and informal urban settlements.

For over a decade, The One Foundation has partnered with organisations in Naivasha and Nairobi to expand water and sewer networks, install household connections, construct community toilets, promote hygiene, and strengthen utility planning and pro-poor policies.
There is a strong connection between the programme work and the UK as many cut flowers sold in British supermarkets are grown on farms around Lake Naivasha.
Communities in this region play a vital role in global supply chains, yet many households still lack reliable access to clean, safe water and basic sanitation.
Our implementing partners in Kenya
WSUP, a non-profit organisation, works across Kenyan cities to strengthen water and sanitation services for low‑income urban communities, partnering with utilities and local governments to expand safe water access, improve sanitation systems, and promote hygiene for healthier, more resilient neighbourhoods.
We are supporting WSUP to implement a programme to extend simplified sewers and piped water networks into low income neighbourhoods in Nairobi and Naivasha.
Fresh Life Kenya is a social enterprise that transforms urban sanitation with safe, container-based toilets and professional waste services, creating healthier, cleaner communities while generating local jobs.
We are supporting Fresh Life to extend their household sanitation service into low income communities in Nairobi.
