Gifty sells groceries on top of a table near her residence. She has dreams of establishing the biggest local grocery shop in her community and is thrilled by the prospects of obtaining a direct piped connection to her home.

“Having water on my premises means so much for my local business. I could sell chilled water, ice cream and other local beverages, so I can earn more and expand my business”.

Gifty fetches water from one of the public stand pipes supplied by water from the Tongor Water station. Prior to the launch of the water station almost six years ago, most residents fetched water from the Volta Lake and had to engage the services of tricycle riders to obtain water.

Gifty is excited about the direct piped connections programme that The One Foundation is supporting, and its potential impact on livelihoods and the lives of the residents in her community.
