Through the One Foundation’s sustained support, Naivasha Water and Sanitation Company (NAIVAWASCO) has grown from a modest utility into one of Kenya’s top-performing service providers.

Its customer base has tripled to more than 14,000 households, and 62% of Naivasha’s population now receives water through NAIVAWASCO via household connections or community kiosks.

With TOF’s funding and technical support from WSUP, NAIVAWASCO has strengthened its operational capacity and delivered more inclusive services. These improvements are reflected in its rise on WASREB’s Pro-Poor Performance Index – from 32nd out of 53 utilities in 2021 to 3rd place in 2024 – demonstrating significant progress in planning, equity, and governance.

To improve affordability, NAIVAWASCO introduced a social connection policy that allows households to pay piping costs in installments over 12 months, benefiting more than 2,500 households, or approximately 10,000 people. Together, these initiatives have positioned NAIVAWASCO as a resilient, inclusive and high-performing utility, illustrating how strategic investment and strong partnerships can deliver lasting impact in water and sanitation.
